November 16, 2017 to November 17, 2017
DIWAN7 at MOVE 2017

Uniting DIWAN with this compelling new national conference powered by ACCESS offers attendees a more comprehensive forum exploring the state of Arab America by merging discussion centered on art with advocacy and other timely issues impacting Arab American communities. AANM strongly encourages artists to submit proposals to ensure robust creative representation at this major event.

Throughout this most recent election cycle, we have witnessed the frightening normalization of hate-speech and demonizing rhetoric against our community, which has led to dangerous and discriminatory policies. There is a renewed need to unite in solidarity and elevate the Arab American voice. Now, more than ever, communities must come together to speak out and speak up. We want to hear your voice and invite you to share your expertise at MOVE 2017: An Arab American Summit to Advance Social Change.

On November 16 – 18, 2017, ACCESS and its three national institutions – the Arab American National Museum (AANM), the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) and the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) – will leverage the energy and engagement of Arab Americans in a summit to Mobilize, Organize, Vocalize and Empower (MOVE) the national community. At this unique gathering, stakeholders and allies will have an opportunity to connect and form relationships, dialogue with and learn from one another about the most pressing issues facing the community and develop a shared agenda for social change.

DIWAN7 (now part of MOVE 2017): Arab American artists, scholars, and performers representing myriad academic fields and artistic genres explore the boundaries of art in addressing social issues related to Arab Americans and the community at large.
