First Church of Boston

Directed by Christiane Karam, the Berklee Middle Eastern Festival is a celebrated annual event that brings together guest artists from the Middle East, Balkans, and Mediterranean with student and community musicians, visual artists, and dancers from around the world to explore and perform the traditional music from their homelands. This year's edition is dedicated to the music of Syria, in support of the Syrian people. The concert will open with the Berklee Middle Eastern Fusion Ensemble, the Pletenitsa Balkan Choir, and special guests, followed by a set by renowned oud player Kinan Adnawi and his ensemble. The concert will conclude with clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and visual artist Kevork Mourad's "Home Within," a powerful audiovisual performance which has garnered worldwide acclaim since its creation in 2012, in response to the crisis and desolation in Syria. Flamenco guitarist and composer Javier Limon will also perform in support of the event. The show is sponsored by External Affairs, Faculty Development, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the Mediterranean Music Institute.

Admission: $8 in advance, $12 day of show
