The Jerusalem Fund, a 501(c)(3) registered private nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., announces a position available as Finance, Grants, & Development Associate. This entry-level position serves as an assistant to the Executive Director and works closely with program staff. The Associate completes financial and accounting tasks; processes grant applications and communicates with grantees; organizes fundraising appeal mailings (physical & electronic); maintains accurate donor records; handles correspondence with donors; and completes the annual charitable solicitation registrations required by states. Finance, Accounting, & Administration
• Pays bill and helps maintain the day-to-day finances of the organization; closely monitors budget/spending and finds ways to save money and increase value
• Records income and expenses; maintains bank records; completes monthly accounting reconciliations; ensures accuracy of all financial records
• Coordinates with the auditors and provides all information needed for the annual audit
• Generates financial and administrative reports
• Prepares payroll semi-monthly and handles staff health insurance benefits
• Provide other support to the Executive Director and program staff

• Handles all correspondence relating to the quarterly grant applications for The Jerusalem Fund’s Humanitarian Link program; maintains organized and up-to-date files
• Prepares grant submissions for the Executive Director’s review and subsequent consideration by the Board of Directors
• Thoroughly researches all grant applicants and applications
• Communicates decisions to grant applicants and follows up for the disbursement of funds
• Ensures that grantees submit timely project reports
• Maintains the Humanitarian Link section of The Jerusalem Fund’s website

• Helps draft fundraising appeal letters and publications
• Manages the design and production of fundraising material; sends appeals via postal and electronic mail
• Maintains donor records through the donor management software
• Sends timely thank you and tax receipt letters
• Maintains the fundraising registrations required by states and other non-profit related paperwork

• Bachelor’s degree with 1 year office experience
• Excellent computer and IT skills are a MUST:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Basic proficiency in graphic design software, particularly Adobe, is preferred
• Ability to work with The Jerusalem Fund’s WordPress website; HTML
• Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks is an advantage
• Basic understanding of budgets, accounting procedures, and strong number skills
• Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, punctual, and a team player
• Strong spoken and written English skills, Arabic language fluency strongly preferred
