Job description

The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), the Nation's largest Arab American Civil Rights organization, is seeking a Michigan Regional Director. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic organization that protects the civil rights and liberties of all Americans.

ADC Michigan Director

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The position is based out of the ADC Michigan Office, located in Dearborn, Michigan. The Director will implement programs and initiatives centered around the ADC mission and cause.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Responsible for the day to day operations of the ADC Michigan office
•Develop local campaigns. Assist with coalition and membership building
•Assist with local chapter structure and Michigan Network
•Represent ADC at local community events, functions and meetings
•Direct the legal, legislative, public education and development activities of the office
•Develop community relationships with other community groups to facilitate effective community action
•Build and promote healthy partnerships with the community, relevant organizations and elected officials
•Represent ADC by speaking to law enforcement agencies, elected officials, and government officials
•Serve as the spokesperson of ADC Michigan, and execute the ADC Michigan communications strategy
•Respond to inquiries from the press and from members of the public; demonstrate a working knowledge of ADC's policies and positions on relevant local, national and international events
•Responsible for the implementation of the ADC Michigan Internship program
•Oversees fundraising planning and implementation, identifies and solicits donors, oversees the work of development staff and volunteers, plans special fundraising events, and works to secure grants and financial resources
•Experience in working with a diverse set of individuals and organizations whose interests may be broadly divergent at times
•Acting as a representative of the ADC national office, including but not limited to representing ADC at various conferences and meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor's degree in related field is required
•Four years of related work experience or community service experience
•Strong understanding of civil rights and civil liberties issues
•Strong understanding of the workings of government agencies
•Experience in implementing and executing programs
•Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills
•Strong writing and editing skills
•Strong computer skills
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Must be open to represent ADC at community events during evening and weekend hours
•Good analytical and problem solving skills
•Ability to work with news media outlets
•Arabic language skills strongly preferred
